Every "I Am" Statement Jesus Made, Explained
Depth of Scripture·Depth of Scripture·21:20
Most people know the seven "I AM" statements of Jesus — the bread of life, the light of the world, the good shepherd. But almost no one notices what they were actually building toward: an eighth "I AM," spoken with no picture at all, that knocked an armed mob to the ground. In this video we walk through every "I AM" statement Jesus made in the Gospel of John — and trace the one Greek phrase, ego eimi, all the way back to a burning bush in the desert and the Name God gave to Moses: "I AM WHO I AM." Each statement is aimed at a specific human ache: 🍞 Bread of life — the hunger nothing else fills 💡 Light of the world — the darkness inside 🚪 The door — the need to be safe 🐑 The good shepherd — the one who dies on purpose ⚰️ The resurrection and the life — grief at the grave 🛤️ The way, the truth, the life — being lost without a map 🍇 The true vine — where you finally belong Then we go back to the garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus answers the soldiers with two words — and you'll understand exactly why they fell. This is a careful, honest look at the Hebrew and Greek behind the text, the ancient context most readers never hear, and why these words still speak in the present tense. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 The Night the Soldiers Fell 1:45 The Two Words Behind Everything 3:00 The Greek Secret: "Ego Eimi" 4:10 #1 Bread of Life — The Hunger Nothing Fills 6:00 #2 Light of the World — The Darkness Inside 7:50 #3 The Door — Standing in the Gap 9:20 #4 The Good Shepherd — Who Dies on Purpose 11:00 #5 The Resurrection and the Life — Four Days Too Late 13:30 #6 The Way, the Truth, the Life — Lost Without a Map 15:10 #7 The True Vine — Where You Belong 16:40 The Eighth "I AM": Before Abraham Was 18:30 The Burning Bush and the Name of God 20:00 Back to the Garden 📖 Which of the seven do you need most this year — bread, light, the door, the shepherd, the resurrection, the way, or the vine?
