✅Sabbath School Lesson 11 "Living With Christ" | Q1 2026 Philippians & Colossians
Deep Made Simple·Deep Made Simple·27:58
You can spend years trying to change yourself. Willpower, new habits, better routines. And still look in the mirror and wonder why the same anger is still there. The same bitterness. The same weight. Colossians 3 has an answer for that. And it doesn't start with trying harder. Paul was writing from house arrest in Rome when he laid out one of the most practical and searching chapters in all of the New Testament. He wasn't writing from a comfortable chair or a theological library. He was in chains. And from that place of limitation, he wrote about what genuine, lasting transformation actually looks like. Not a personality upgrade. Not spiritual self-improvement. Something more like death and resurrection. That's what this week's lesson is about. We start with heavenly-mindedness. Paul doesn't say try to think about heaven more. He says if you have been raised with Christ, then seek the things which are above. The condition isn't effort. It's identity. And once that identity is established, everything else in Colossians 3 flows from it. Monday takes us somewhere uncomfortable. Paul has a slogan nobody puts on a protest sign: End Earthliness. And then he gets specific. Fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, covetousness. He calls covetousness idolatry. And Romans 1 shows us where that road ends when left unchecked. Tuesday brings the hinge of the whole chapter. Two words that change everything: But now. The old man is gone. The new man is being renewed in knowledge, in the image of Christ. And verse 11 opens into something revolutionary then and now. In Christ, every wall that human society has built to divide people from each other is erased. Completely. Wednesday is where it gets beautiful. Paul gives us the wardrobe of the new life. Tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering. And above all these things. Love. The bond of perfection. Not as something you achieve. As something that flows from knowing what you've been forgiven. Thursday brings us to music. Why does Paul land on psalms and hymns and spiritual songs after all of this deep theology? Because music is not decoration. Music is formation. The songs you carry shape your thoughts. Your thoughts shape your desires. Your desires become your character. And then: whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus. Whatever. The email at 11pm. The conversation when no one is watching. Whatever. This is what living with Christ actually looks like. Daily. Ordinary. Sometimes quiet, sometimes costly. Always a choice. 📖 Quarterly: Uniting Heaven and Earth: Christ in Philippians and Colossians 📅 Lesson 11: Living With Christ 🗓️ Quarter: Q1 2026 Sunday: Heavenly-Mindedness Monday: End Earthliness Tuesday: Renewed in Knowledge Wednesday: Put On Love Thursday: The Word of Christ Friday: Further Study 📌 Memory Verse: "But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection" (Colossians 3.14, NKJV) IN THIS VIDEO: ▸ Why heavenly-mindedness is not optional for followers of Christ (Colossians 3.1-4) ▸ What "End Earthliness" actually means and why covetousness is called idolatry ▸ The "But now" moment in Colossians 3.8 and the radical identity shift it signals ▸ The old man and new man explained through the clothing metaphor in Scripture ▸ Why every human dividing wall dissolves in Christ (verse 11) ▸ The full wardrobe of the new life: tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering ▸ Love as the bond of perfection and what that actually means for how we treat people ▸ Why Paul connects spiritual transformation to the music you carry ▸ Whatever you do in word or deed: the accountability behind one of the most demanding verses in Colossians ▸ Ellen White on the strongest argument in favor of the gospel 🔔 Subscribe to DeepMadeSimple for weekly Sabbath School summaries that make deep truths simple and clear. 👍 Like this video if it blessed you. 💬 Comment below: Which quality from Colossians 3.12 feels most impossible to you right now, and what grace moment has made it feel more possible? 📤 Share this with someone in your Sabbath School class!
