Jesus Told Peter to Find a Coin Inside a Fish's Mouth — The Strangest Miracle Nobody Explains
Depth of Scripture·Depth of Scripture·19:45
Jesus paid the temple tax with a coin taken from the mouth of a fish. And Matthew never shows it happening. Why would the Gospel stop one sentence too early — at the command, before the catch? The answer runs from a ransom law in the wilderness of Exodus to a burning temple in AD 70 — and once you see what that coin actually was, you can't unsee it. In Matthew 17, two collectors stop Peter at his own gate in Capernaum: "Doesn't your teacher pay the two drachmas?" What follows is the strangest miracle in all four Gospels — commanded, but never narrated. In this video we trace the hidden meaning of the coin in the fish's mouth: the half-shekel ransom God commanded through Moses (Exodus 30), the vow Nehemiah's broken remnant made in the ruins, and how it became the two-drachma temple tax (didrachmon) that Josephus says Jews paid from Babylon to Rome. Then the detail everyone reads past: the coin in the fish was a stater — four drachmas, the exact tax for exactly two men. "For me and for you." Not for the twelve. We look at the Greek word skandalizo — why the Son who owed nothing paid anyway — at St. Peter's fish, the musht of Galilee, and at the verse Matthew never wrote. Because the fish was never the open question in this story. Peter was. Which detail had you never noticed before? Tell me in the comments — I read every one. 📖 Scriptures in this video: Matthew 17:24-27 · Exodus 30:11-16 · Nehemiah 10:32 · Matthew 17:1-5 · Matthew 9:9 · 1 Peter 1:18-19 🕓 CHAPTERS 0:00 The Question at Peter's Gate 3:05 Exodus 30 — A Ransom for Your Soul 4:45 The Vow in the Ruins of Jerusalem 5:30 The Two-Drachma Tax (What Josephus Records) 6:25 Days After the Transfiguration 8:10 One Hook, the First Fish, One Exact Coin 10:20 Skandalizo — Why He Paid a Tax He Didn't Owe 11:30 The Verse Matthew Never Wrote 12:45 The Tax Collector Who Kept the Receipt 14:30 AD 70 — The Year the Tax Died 16:55 The Envelope on Your Kitchen Table 18:00 Three Things to Carry Home (Chỉnh mốc ±10-20s sau render cuối) 🔔 If you love the details everyone reads past — the meaning hiding in plain sight — subscribe.
