Every "MANSIONS" in John Explained: 2 uses, 1 promise, and the REST most people miss

The word "mansions" is not in the Greek of John chapter 14. Not once.
So what did Jesus actually say the night before He died?
The answer is one rare word — used only twice in the whole New Testament — and it changes the promise from real estate into something far more personal.
For four hundred years, English readers have pictured golden estates in heaven, custom-built for the faithful. But the word Jesus used is monē — a dwelling place, a room, from the verb menō, "to remain, to abide, to stay." Trace that word through John's Gospel and a pattern appears that most readers walk right past: from "Rabbi, where are you staying?" in chapter one, to the vine and the branches in chapter fifteen, to the moment the risen Jesus tells a man who failed Him, "Follow me." This is the story of how one Latin word from Jerome, one careful choice by the King James translators in 1611, and four centuries of language drift turned a promise about presence into a promise about property — and what the text was really saying all along.
